Nicolas Manev was born in Pazardzhik and raised in Chirpan (Bulgaria). He studied at the Art Academy in Sofia and was admitted in 1962 to the French Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied painting in the class of prof. Maurice Brianchon. Manev had more than 140 solo exhibitions worldwide, and more than 3,000 of his works are in public and private collections in over 30 countries worldwide. The painter lives and works for over 45 years in Paris, but remains forever linked with Bulgaria.
